Overcome with joy and inspiration after watching GSL1 Champion Cool (aka Fruit Dealer) battle his way to the top, the StarCraft II team would like to introduce some new concept art for the zerg race based on his tactics. We’re pleased to introduce the Grapeling, Applelord, and Bananalisk, and hope you will join us in congratulating Fruit Dealer!

New Galaxy Archives Entry
I just thought I would give a quick mention here for all those actually interested in the lore behind the entire universe of Starcraft. Another new Galaxy Archives entry has been added to the official Starcraft II website and this one has a look at Starcraft: Liberty’s Crusade. So if you want to learn a little bit more about some of the characters that were pretty big in Starcraft II you should probably check it out. You can find a link to the article below!
Over the years, many stories have unfolded in the StarCraft universe. Here in the Galaxy Archives we’ll be taking a few brief glimpses at the books that depict many of these epic StarCraft adventures.

Competo Cup #8 Cancelled
The 8th Competo Cup was not held this week due to server instability issues. Apparently there were way too many sign ups and the servers just could not handle all the traffic. It’s a pity but they do assure us they will be ready for those kind of numbers next week!
Naniwa Wins SK Champions Trophy

GosuGamers KOTH – SjoW Retains His Title
The Terran player SjoW faced off against fellow Terran player Naama in the GosuGamers King of the Hill series that happend this past weekend. SjoW won with a score of 4-1, I think. GosuGamers website has the results totally wrong and it’s pretty difficult to find anything on there right now so I can’t be sure. Either way, you can find the full results in the link above.

Jaedong To Starcraft II
Firstly, I hope you all know who Jaedong is. If not, you had better visit wikipedia to read up about this legend of a gamer. In a recent interview with Rakaka.se he told them that he will definitely be switching to Starcraft II once Brood War sees the end of its days in South Korea. This is really, really amazing news for all The Tyrant’s fans out there. This coupled with BoxeR’s supposed return… what can I say, it’s just too good to be true! 😀
Q: How do you see the future of StarCraft: BroodWar and will you change to StarCraft 2?
A: I will definitely change to StarCraft II as I feel that StarCraft 2 is having a higher status then StarCraft: Broodwar. We will see more international tournaments in SC2 compared to StarCraft: Broodwar and this will make the change natural for me. I want to build my reputation abroad and reach out to the international audience but when I decide to change game I can not say, it can be today, it can be tomorrow it can be in a couple of years.

Liquid`HayprO to Korea
As the title says the Swedish HayprO has joined fellow Liquid players Jinro and TLO in South Korea. This means he is the first Zerg to join the Liqiud force and if you want to read more about his trip and his plans for the future you can read a full interview with HayprO over at TeamLiquid.

Nazgul and Heosat Interview
Sebastian over at PolygonRevue recently uploaded a really nice, incredibly in-depth interview with the guys behind TeamLiquid, Victor “Nazgul” Goossens and Mat “Heosat” Peterson. In the interview they cover pretty much everything from their history, to management and even a long talk about training. It really was an awesome listen and you can just follow the link below to find out more!

If you’ve not noticed I only bother linking full replay packs here. There has not been much interesting happening but if you are keen for some Fruitseller replays you’d best pay Sc2win a visit as they have quite a few Fruitseller games up!

5000 Accounts Banned
The hackers are finally getting what they deserve. Blizzard recently dropped the ban hammer on 5000, probably unsuspecting, Starcraft II players. This is the first of many waves of bans that Blizzard will be throwing out and, obviously, I think it’s a good thing. You can find the full quote from Blizzard below. Enjoy!
We recently took action, including suspensions and bans, on over 5,000 StarCraft II players who were in violation of the Battle.net Terms of Use for cheating and/or using hack programs while playing. In addition to undermining the spirit of fair competition that’s essential to play on Battle.net, cheating and hacking can lead to stability and performance issues with the service. Maintaining a stable, safe, and secure online-gaming experience for legitimate players is a top priority for us, and we’ll be continuing to keep watch on Battle.net and take action as needed.

New Real ID Settings Available
A new set of Real ID options have been unlocked by Blizzard. These were instated because of all the complaints about the dangers of having your full name and surname available for all to see on Battle.net. You can now disable the friends of friends adding feature aswell as the facebook friend adding feature on you Battle.net account. You can also totally disable the Real ID feature, if that tickles your fancy. See the official quote below.
New Battle.net Privacy Settings
We’d like to make you aware of the new Real ID-related privacy options we’ve introduced to Battle.net. These options provide Real ID users with additional tools for customizing the service based on their preferences, enabling the ability to opt in or out of the Real ID “Friends of Friends” and “Add Facebook Friends” features or to turn off Real ID altogether.
To access these settings, log in to your Battle.net account at http://www.battle.net/account. From there, click on the “Settings” tab located at the center of the Account Management menu and select “Communication Preferences” from the dropdown list. The new settings can be found in the “Privacy” section of the Communication Preferences page.

Blizzard Alienware Competition
Alienware and Blizzard have set up a StarCraft II diorama contest where they want artists to submit models of StarCraft II units and buildings. The entrants who submit the best dioramas will be given a ton of cool prizes from Alienware worth up to $3,000 USD. I am pretty keen to see what people come up with for this. Starcraft II arts and crafts are always good to see! Find the competition page and entry links below. Enjoy!

The Happy Ultralisk
An interesting thread was posted on the TeamLiquid forums recently containing some very, um, unique artwork. The artwork in the thread is a cartoon of sorts about an Ultralisk and his adventures through the various balance changes afflicting it’s kind recently. It’s really entertaining and quite touching and definitely worth checking out. I must warn you all though, it’s pretty long. See the link to the thread below!

Fruitseller (Cool) Wins GSL
The long running Global Starcraft League has finally come to an end with the Korean Kim “FruitDealer” Won-Gi taking the first place. The Zerg player faced off against the Terran HopeTorture in the finals and managed to take it with an impressive 4-1. With the win, Kim takes around 85,000 US Dollars home and the second place finisher around 30,000 US Dollars. Impressive! I watched the livestream of the finals and I have to say the games were absolutely amazing. A definite must see. You can find the VOD’s from the event below along with links to the official GSL Site.

Justin.tv Charity Tournament
Justin.tv has organized a special Starcraft II tournament that is set to collect money for the Child’s Play Organisation. The tournament is happening tomorrow and will be running 4v4 and 2v2’s. it seems like they have also picked up some amazing sponsors for the event including Alienware, Razer, Astro Gaming, Jinx Clothing. The teams taking part will come from companies such as Yammer, Smule, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube, IGN, Justin.TV and more. I think this is really a great thing that Justin.tv is doing. It may not be the highest skilled tournament but it will probably be tons of fun and is definitely for a good cause.

Apparently these players not the biggest of names in Starcraft 1 but there are hopes of big things for them in Starcraft II. See more over at TeamLiquid, below.

BoxeR vs IdrA
I also didn’t believe it at first but it seems like Boxer, The Genius Terran, The Emporer himself is playing Starcraft II. Artosis recently got his hands on a replay of IdrA facing off against him on the ladder. The game is amazing and Boxer… well let’s just say I don’t think anyone has a chance when Boxer starts playing Starcraft II properly. Check it out below!

Player And Clan News
As usual there is no shortage of drama in the international Starcraft II Community. There are transfers, rants and interviews. Read about everything that’s been happening right here!
Idra Talks About Patch 1.1
The Zerg Starcraft II Pro IdrA shared his feelings on the state of Starcraft II before and after Patch 1.1. He mentions how he thinks the patch won’t change enough in terms of balance and that Blizzard are overlooking too many obvious problems. See the full interview below.

HuK To Liquid – HuK To Korea
The highly successful big name Protoss player HuK has left the clan of Millenium and moved to Liquid. Not just for any reason though, he is also, like so many others, making the move to Korea to pursue his Starcraft II Pro Gaming Carreer. There is obviously a lot to be learnt there for Starcraft II players or any gamers for that matter. That much is evident after seeing all the foreigners being knocked out of the GS2L. You can read an interview with HuK about the matter and see the full details below or over at TeamLiquid.

Fruitseller Drama
Cool, (aka Fruiseller, aka Fruitdealer) has been causing quite a stir. He was caught totally out of character, totally uncool, recently when asked about Starcraft II’s first balance patch, 1.1. He said quite a few incredibly hateful things and seemed on the verge of a breakdown. Luckily, a couple of hours later he changed his tune and said that he was alright with the new changes and was definitely coping. You should all do yourselves the favour of reading the translated quotes in the link below. Enjoy!

Blizzard Talks About “Guest Mode” and “Offline Mode”
Blizzard has a handy little post up that covers, in detail, everything you can expect from the ‘Guest’ and ‘Offline’ modes in Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty. There are a few things here that I didn’t know myself. Like the fact that in Guest Modes you can pretty much do it all, except play multiplayer or get achievements!
