Diablo 3 Caravan Feature

If you weren’t aware, GamesCom is now in full swing and the new and exciting news is just flooding in like crazy! One of the more interesting reveals at the expo thus far was a new feature we are going to be seeing in Diablo III, The Caravan! Blizzard unveiled this feature just a couple of minutes ago and you can find all the details we currently know about it below! Just a quick warning, the screenshots are absolutely huge, watch out!

Today at the gamescom trade fair in Cologne, Germany, Blizzard Entertainment unveiled a brand-new gameplay feature for its highly-anticipated action role-playing game, Diablo® III. Even in single-player mode, the heroes of Sanctuary won’t have to face the hordes of the Burning Hells alone, as a persistent caravan follows them on their perilous quest. The caravan provides access to a group of unique support characters including a blacksmith, a mystic, and a jeweler, each of which offer exclusive gameplay benefits that will aid players in their epic struggle. And these aren’t just static NPCs — each artisan has his or her own story and quest line, and they gradually grow in skill and learn new recipes over the course of the game as players take advantage of their services. The utility provided by these characters adds another layer of customization and depth to the Diablo III gameplay experience.

More information regarding the caravan feature and Diablo III in general can be found in our press kit on the Blizzard.com Press Kits page.

The only thing that’s slightly saddening is that it seems to be only for singleplayer. It does make sense though because of all the additions it seems to provide to the gameplay that probably just wouldn’t work in multiplayer. Nonetheless, exciting stuff! I hope we hear more cool stuff about Diablo III at GamesCom 2010.

You can find the Official Press Release of the new Caravan Feature for Diablo III here. You can also ‘continue reading’ to see more screenshots of the Caravan in action as well as the FAQ about the Caravan Feature! It answers a lot of the questions everyone no doubt has. This FAQ was included in the Diablo III GamesCom 2010 Press Kit.

With its release only a few days away the humorous action role-playing game Deathspank is starting to look even more impressive. (It’s probably looking the same but I just want it more.) The devs over at HotHead have released a cool new video full with commentary detailing the co-op and multiplayer modes of the game. Friends can venture out into the world together and work together at vanquishing the evil plaguing the land and rise to become the ultimate heroes.

The video shows off some of the cool skills that Deathspank and his side-kick Sparkles can use. The game world, the monsters in it, the characters and even their skills are very light-hearted and fun. From the first few seconds of the game that you see it’s apparent that you won’t be taking this game too seriously. It looks like it should be a blast to play with friends locally or online. Personally, I think we need more games like this. There are so few companies that even bother to try something to stray away from the norm. Above and below I have embedded a the above mentioned trailers for the game, they are definitely worth checking out!

The game will be providing us with its Diablo-esque style hack and slash gameplay combined with over the top comedy (and um, unicorn slaying?) on the XBox 360 and PS3 on the 13th of July. Looks promising!

Just before E3 last week we saw the release of a Portal 2 Trailer and how great it was to hear that voice in the trailer again! I only now got around to posting about it but I did manage to watch it way too many times over the past week. I just love the humor and charm that Valve managed to pack into the few lines of speech in the trailer. I must also mention that I really love the music used in the trailer, very fitting, I think! See the E3 trailer for the game at the bottom of the post.

As far as I’ve heard, if you look really, really closely you can catch a glimpse of an old friend in the trailer. Even I didn’t see that at first, but I feel sorry for good old companion cube nonetheless! The new gameplay features and the improved graphics engine will make this game an even more immersive experience than the first. I only had to complaints about the first Portal, it didn’t have multiplayer and it was too short. From what I have been reading it seems like both of those were seen to in this highly anticipated sequel. (Co-op, yay!) The game play trailers I have seen (linked below) make it look like the game is going to be slightly more ‘story driven’ than the original, but at the same time it will still be able to constantly keep the player paying attention and having fun with the puzzles and the incredibly original cast of characters and erm… things. (It’s also really amazing how they manage to put so much emotion into the mechanical characters in the game, can’t wait to meet them all!) Enjoy the trailers and write-ups below and check back here for more on Portal 2 in the future. You monster.
