starcraft universe

The Starcraft II custom map, or mod, which was previously known as ‘World Of Starcraft’, is now branded ‘StarCraft Universe’. After having been flown out to the Blizzard Headquarters to meet with the developers of Starcraft II, the mod’s creator, Ryan Winzen, is now ready to get started on the crazy task of turning a real-time strategy game into a massive-multiplayer online role-playing game. We were treated with a mention of some of the features being promised for Starcraft Universe. It is apparently set to include the ability to save characters, customisable gear forged from loot, it will have distinct player classes and up to twelve players able to join together on the same map. That sounds pretty impressive for something made in the Starcraft II Galaxy Editor. So if you want to wish the creator luck or merely read more about this massive undertaking, check the links below.

Starcraft II Sales & Lack Of Release In China

During Activision Blizzard’s financial conference call last week, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime stated that sales of its sci-fi RTS game StarCraft II are approaching 4.5 million units since its release back in July. While those numbers are pretty huge for a PC exclusive game, it’s actually less than some people though it would sell. A few months ago Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey predicted the game would sell as much as 7 million copies by the end of Activision Blizzard current fiscal year, which ends on March 31. BigDownload reports that part of the issue is that the game has yet to launch, officially, in China. During the call Morhaime stated that Blizzard was in fact working with its partner, Netease, to launch StarCraft II in the country but so far there’s no word on a China release date. Other smalls snippets that were mention was that the game’s players have uploaded over 150,000 user-made maps to Battle.net and that work continues on the next game, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, but that was about all we got! If you want to read all about Starcraft II’s mentions during the Activision Blizzard’s financial conference call, check the link below.

Blizzard At The AIAS Awards

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, or AIAS, revealed the 2011 Interactive Achievement Awards Winners. Our favourite, Blizzard Entertainment, was nominated in several categories and managed to win two of them. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm wasn’t lucky this year, but it was nominated in two categories, and that’s not bad at all. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, on the other hand, won the Oustanding Achievement in Online Game Play Award, taking down Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo: Reach and even Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to do so. Starcraft II also won the Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year Award, besting Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising and Sid Meier’s Civilization V, amongst others, to take it. That is pretty impressive if you ask me and, well, after playing Starcraft II as much as I have, I can’t disagree one bit. If you want to read more about the AIAS and all the awards that were given out, check the links below!

 TSL3 Zerg Invites

The guys over at TeamLiquid have announced the next set of invites for their TeamLiquid Starleague 3. After last week’s announcement of the first set of TSL3 Protoss invites from Asia, today five Zerg players were added to the already impressive list. Only five Terran players remain to be invited and will be announced in one week’s time. The players invited are the following :

  • Greg ‘IdrA’ Fields
  • Won Ki ‘FruitDealer’ Kim
  • Jae-Duck ‘NesTea’ Lim
  • Hayder ‘HayprO’ Hussein
  • Jos ‘Ret’ de Kroon

TeamLiquid even have a writeup up about every one of those players, but,  I think you all know them pretty well already. So the Zerg players that were invited to the TSL this season are truly phenomenal players, I wonder how the terran will match up? I guess we will just have to wait and see! If you want to see the full announcement and all that information about the players, check the post linked below.

NesTea – 2010’s Top Earner

In a few small GSL related pieces of news, well, at least semi-related, you can read about how NesTea is currently the highest earner in Starcraft II. The guys over at GOMtv have put together a list of the total prize money won by all the big name Starcraft II pros, in 2010 and 2011. They set them all up in a nicely ranked list and, as I said, NesTea came out on top with just over 100,000$. After that we see Fruitdealer, MC and MarineKing. What is interesting to note is that this list has all the winnings from all the tournaments, not just the GSL. The foreigner that earned the most is LiquidJinro at 9th place and at 10th we have Naama, the first one on the list that did not make most of those winnings from the GSL. So yes, the top 10 is heavily saturated with GSL participants and I guess this clearly shows that the Sony Ericsson Global Starcraft II League is the place to be for the big money. Read more and see the fully detailed list below!

Liquid.Ret Takes Assembly

The Assembly Winter LAN has been finally been completed and as you all probably know they hosted their very fist Starcraft II tournament at this past weekends event. Some really big names took part in the tournament, players such as TLO, HuK, Ret, Tyler, Adelscott, MorroW, SjoW, Socke and many others. Yes, Liquid definitely representing. Liquid also shone when their zerg player Ret faced off against fellow zerg player MorroW in the finals, besting him with a pretty impressive score of 3 to 1. Ret was clearly quite happy with his first big win and the 3000 Euro it earned him,  you can even see a video interview below with the proud Liquid zerg.

  1. Liquid.Ret
  2. mouzMorroW
  3. Adelscott
  4. Socke

The top four at the event were Ret, MorroW, Adelscott and lastly, but by no means least, Socke. Below you can find the full results of the event, photos, video interviews with most of the players and much more. This is all courtesy of Sk  Gaming and TeamLiquid. I have to add that the interviews are really great stuff. Some of the players had quite a bit of interesting stuff to say – HuK claiming to be the best player there, regardless of not even making top 4, Ret saying that MorroW played self-destructively and many other interesting chirps. So, if you want to read all about the results, what the players thought about the tournament, and the other players, at Assembly, you know where to look!

IdrA Coaching Clients Give Feedback

Ever wondered what it was like to receive lessons from a Starcraft II pro? Someone as notorious and known for some slightly less than desirable manners as IdrA perhaps? Well the guys over at GosuGamers polled a few of  The Gracken’s latest coaching clients to hear what they had to say about the Starcraft II bad-boy and GSL participant and his attitude in the classroom. Funny enough, the replies aren’t quite what you would expect. The users generally agree that IdrA is calm, patient, polite, a good teacher and quite… assertive? One of the clients even said it was not what he expected either; IdrA was not a total douche. So there you have it, if you were thinking of getting some coaching from a big name in the Starcraft II world, I guess IdrA doesn’t sound like too bad a choice. Head on over to GosuGamers or check the links below for the full replies from the clients, they are pretty entertaining and definitely worth a read. Enjoy!

GGvision #22 – Interview with Jonathan ‘Jinro’ Walsh

Sebastian from over at PolygonreVue has released his latest episode of GG Vission. In this exclusive and as usual incredibly in-depth interview he talks to none other than LiquidJinro about the upcoming GSL March, giving his views and predictions on every group and every Code-S player in the tournament. Jinro also shares his thoughts on the new pro-maps made by GomTV themselves that are currently used in the ongoing Team League and that will be played extensively in March. As Sebastian says, this is 40 minutes of pure Starcraft II goodness. Time to get Jinrolled!

Is the Blizzard Ladder Hurting Starcraft II?

There is an interesting and I guess to some, quite infuriating, post up on the TeamLiquid forums. The post is titled “Is the Blizzard Ladder Hurting SC2?” and it covers, in a pretty poetic way, all the different problems and issues that the author of the post and his friends have with the new Battle.net, Starcrat II’s map pool and various other topics. Is Battle.net 2.0 really that bad? I have to say I have been having a pretty good time playing on it, but, the poster does bring quite a few interesting points and even makes a few predictions that are quite interesting indeed. I won’t spoil it for any of you looking for a good read by telling you any of it here, so, if you’re interested you’d better check it out below!

Best Protoss in The World?

Athene, the most epic of trolls, the best Paladin in the word and now, the self-proclaimed best protoss in the world is back and this time he is invading the world of Starcraft II in a big way. So if you want to hear aaaaallll about why Athene is the best, we are noobs and how he will carry dominating and apparently already has dominated the best players in the world, watch the video linked below. He had a crazy good record on Battle.net but there were rumors floating around that KiWiKaKi was doing all the heavy lifting for the notorious internet personality. TIME Magazine Top 10 of Everything – Starcraft II

Starcraft II has snagged yet another award, or mention at least, in the TIME Magazine Top 10 of everything lists. Sadly for us Starcraft fans, the game only managed a 9th place, with Alan Wake taking the #1 spot. Still, though, it is on the list and that alone is an impressive feat! So if you’re interested in the rest of that list you’d better head on over to the TIME website to check it out. You can also read their little description of Starcraft II and reasons for picking it as a Top 10 contender below, enjoy.

The Top 10 Everything of 2010 – TIME

Good things come to those who wait, and boy, did we wait for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. Twelve years after the original game was released, we finally got to play as Terrans (humans), Zergs (alien slugs) or Protoss (alien psionic bugs) once again. The space saga follows the Terran story line as the Terrans fight off attacks from the extraterrestrials trying to take over. StarCraft II’s game play has the right mix of old and new. It’s easy to pick up — even if you haven’t played the original in a while — and remains interesting and new. More important, this game focused on the multiplayer competition, which is what players loved most about the original. Here’s to the real-time strategy game slowing down Internet connections everywhere so we can enjoy our LAN parties.

GSL3 – oGsMC Wins!

The GOMTV Global Starcraft II League’s third season has finally come to an end! The final match between TSL_Rain and oGsMC was a best of 7 with pre-determined maps. There was also an interesting little bonus for the audience. Both players were in booths that moved forward with each win, forward towards the trophy that they were battling it out for. That, if anything, must have added a little bit of extra tension and stress to these games. I won’t be going into full detail about the games here, I will simply give you the results and point you towards a ton of great sites that did amazing coverage of the finals. oGsMC played amazingly, as he seemed to be doing for the entire GSL3. He managed to best TSL_Rain with a rather impressive 4 to 1. So yes, MC from the clan Old Generations has won GSL Season 3 and we have our first non-zerg winner from our first non-zerg-containing finals! Not taking anything away from Rain at all here, he played amazingly to get to the finals, but it was just not meant to be. So as I mentioned, below you can find a bunch of links to sites that did some really in-depth coverage.

Code-S Groups Finalized

With the GSL3 now concluded and 2010 fast coming to an end, it’s time to look to the future. The Code-S groups for the GSL Season 4 have been released, as I mentioned before. There are quite a few groups that quite a few people are slightly unhappy about. Three oGs members in one group, Jinro and IdrA sharing another? That is just the way of things. If they are going to win, they are going to win. Have a look at those groups below and let me know what you think. Are we in for a treat next year? Mass upsets or more of the same? Exciting!

For those of you that don’t know exactly how it works just yet, GosuGamers have an amazing post up detailing every little detail of the Code-A to Code-S to Code-A happenings. It is, in short, as I mentioned before. The bottom players from Code-S play against the top players from Code-A. Should those Code-S players lose out, they get dropped to Code-A and the Code-A guys move up to Code-S. Woah.

Anyway, check the post out below for the full list of players and how its gonna be working!

Player Interviews

Now for a couple of interviews. I am only going to mention these incredibly briefly in the hopes of saving a bit of time. Let’s have a look!

Firstly we have a nice nostalgic interview with one of the first ‘foreign’ players to ever enter the pro-gaming scene in South Korea, [9] Thor. Yes, this is well before Starcraft II’s time. He talks about how life was different to back then, how he doesn’t feel Starcraft II is as fun as Brood War was and much more.

Fenix Interview

The Peruvian boy wonder, the terran player Fenix, has ambitious plans for 2011 including a will to win and plans to participate in the GSL, MLG and IEM. Did I mention he plans on winning those too? In his interview he talks about all those topics, plus how he views pro-gaming as a business, one he plans to run exceedingly well.

John The Translator Interview

John, the translator we’re used to hearing and seeing between games at the GOMTV events, has finally been interviewed. He talks about how he got to work at GOMTV, his first impressions of Tasteless and Artosis, which I will tell you about in just a second, and how being at the GSL helps his Starcraft II game too. Apparently GOMTV is going to be setting up a team house close to the GOMTV headquarters for foreign players, so they won’t have to pay for their stay in Korea. He also briefly mentions the plans that the guys from the GSL had of having qualifiers all around the world for their future GSL seasons. The interview is great and the best part was probably his first impressions of Tasteless and Artosis. The first time he met the duo he hated them, Artosis seemed cocky and arrogant, while Tasteless seemed stupid, but later he realized that they were in fact really nice guys.

Check the video interview out below, courtesy of VT Gaming, and above you can also see the speech from the GSL Season 2 finals that made him famous. Enjoy!

Extensive Fruitdealer Interview

So the poster of this warned me so I will warn you, WARNING, massive 5000 word interview incoming! GSL1 winner, Fruitdealer, was recently interviewed and it popped up on Fomos Korea. As I mentioned, the interview is quite extensive. It covers it all, how he got into Starcraft II, the first, second and third seasons of the GSL, tons of great photos and much, much, much more. Check that out below, translated by a friendly member of the TeamLiquid community.

This time it is part of his next GG Vision episode and he has a chat with one of the better known voices of Starcraft II, JP McDaniel. Jinro Interview

The guys from over at sn.se have a nice, also rather lengthy, interview up with none other than the terran superstar and GSL Round of 4 player Jinro. They asked about his thoughts on South Korea, the GSL and his games there. They warn, as seems to be the trend, that it is an incredibly long interview. That is most definitely not a problem, I mean really, who wouldn’t want to read a long interview with The Gorilla Terran? You can find it below in English and Swedish.

Leaders of the Horde: Garrosh Hellscream

Blizzard have an interesting new post series up titled Leaders of the Alliance and Horde. King Varian Wrynn, Queen Sylvanas Windrunner, King Genn Greymane, and Trade Prince Gallywix – these are just a few of the leaders who continue to shape Azeroth’s destiny. They are the embodiments of their races’ strongest traits… and at times their greatest failings. In the coming months, Blizzard Entertainment will be releasing short stories that will peer into the hearts of these legendary heroes and offer insight into what new trials might lie ahead as they lead their people in a world forever changed by the Cataclysm. The first entry is titled ‘Heart of War’ and offers a glimpse into the experiences that have shaped Garrosh into the fierce leader he is today. Check that out below, enjoy!

Tanking With a Vengeance – Follow Up

Blizzard have taken it upon themselves to post a couple of responses and clarifications following Wednesday’s developer blog entry on the Vengeance ability and tanking. They cover a few things that some players didn’t quite get. Like the fact that Vengeance is mostly tuned for level 85 right now, or at least closer to level 85 than 80 and the fact that DPS classes have such crazy damage at the moment makes it slightly less useful than it will be on level 85, where things will be normalized. Also, they say that the 10 second buff time works well and sticks with their mantra of keeping playing fun and not a chore. If the buff lasted 30, or even 60 seconds, you would probably have people kiting weaker mobs through entire instances to keep it up. Let’s face it, that’s not fun. Read the full responses below!

Rob Pardo Interview

Are you curious as to why Blizzard would opt to destroy the world of what is arguably the most successful game in the history of the MMORPG genre? Well here it is, in a new interview on Edge with World of Warcraft co-designer Rob Pardo he spilled the beans. A quote:

“We do have the ability to continually add to the game and evolve it, but the trickier challenge is that eventually people are going to want to move onto new types of entertainment,”

He also goes on to compare most modern-day MMOs to long-running television series, talks about Cataclysm and also talks about where Blizzard can go from here. A really great and informative interview, worth the read. Check it out below!

Mila Kunis Talks World of Warcraft

Actress Mila Kunis was recently interviewed on MTV and was asked how her World of Warcraft was going. Apparently she has had to cut back recently because she was getting too addicted. She also mentions that she would absolutely love to star in the World of Warcraft movie.

GSL3 Round of 32 – Day 3

The third play day of the GSL Season 3 Round of 32 has been completed with the fourth day coming up tomorrow. As usual a bunch of games were played and a couple of big names have dropped out. This week we say goodbye to Sen, Genius and Ret. You can obviously find all those that made it through and the full results below, enjoy!

GSL Ro32 – MyM

[GSL] S3 Ro32 Day 3 – TeamLiquid

You can also read below about a few rumors that are going around which I, for the record, don’t believe. A fan thinks that GOMTV is supporting BoxeR by placing him, mostly at least, against terran players. Now, this fan thinks that, and may or may not be right, that BoxeR’s strongest matchup is in fact TvT. He points out that he is not hating or dissing, he just finds it a little funny.

One thing that is funny is that GOMtv has actually directly responded to this fans doubts and provided us all with an explanation, and some peace of mind. They say that they put top 4 players from last season in each bracket, then tried to split each race evenly into each bracket. And if they follow this method strictly all the brackets would look the same or be balanced at least. So right now apparently each bracket has 6~8 zergs, 5~7 terrans and 3 protoss. Interesting. You can read more about all this drama below, enjoy!

With Dreamhack over, the Starcraft II tournament concluded and the players getting back to their normal routines it seems like there is one last bit of crazy to entertain us. After that they have their ‘Pro-gaming without the fluff’  segment too. They touch on many, many subjects and well, as I said, it gets a bit ugly at times. Update – The EPS France is now over and with only one loss in 15 matches Pierre ‘Sarens’ Guivarch is the champion! At the Grand Finals this weekend he managed a straight run through the winners to the finals and there he took down fellow Terran player Aures with a score of 3 to 2.

GSL2 – Round of 16

I try mix it up a bit, try see what different sites have to say about the same thing. Today I am linking you to MyM’s coverage of the GSL2. Its just as comprehensive as the TeamLiquid posts and, well, it definitely tells you all you need to know!

GSL2 Round of 16 – MyM

Big names that made it to the top 8 and received their Code S? BoxeR, NaDa, HopeTorture, Zenio and Genius. Big names not making the cut? IdrA, Check and Loner. It’s pretty sad to see IdrA go but one can’t really stay sad for long with all the other amazing players up in there! See the MyM post above for more information!

There’s some other news pertaining to the GSL2 and you can find that below!

BoxeR vs NaDa

Yeah, BoxeR vs NaDa. I could probably just stop right here and all the fans out there would have heard enough. We suspected this day would come, it had to sooner or later, but this soon, wow. With the GSL2 Moving into the round of 8 we see the big name Brood War legends meeting each other for the first time in Starcraft II. The anticipation cannot be explained. This is one game I will definitely not miss!

Zenio: IdrA, don’t be a dick.

Apparently IdrA must “stop being a dick’. This is straight from the mouth of the player that just recently knocked IdrA out of the GSL2, oGsZenio. After Zenio won their best of 3 series with a score of 2-o he made a rather threatening looking gesture at IdrA, a gesture which caused a lot of talk. Zenio says that he did it because IdrA has no respect for anyone on Battle.net and should learn to not be a dick to everyone. It’s pretty entertaining and after seeing how serious the flame haired Korean looked, I don’t think anyone is going to be disrespecting him on the Battle.net any time soon. Read the full interview below, courtesy of GosuGamers.

Zenio: IdrA, don’t be a dick – GosuGamers

MyM Boots NaNiWa

MyM has let go of the big-ish name Protoss player NaNiWa. Apparently after causing quite a stir, and I do mean this in a bad way, in the German EPS, it was decided that MyM was just not the place for him. The MyM Starcraft II Squad now only consists of Cloud and Artosis but they say that al MyM fans can be sure that there will be some great announcements coming soon. Let’s wait and see, till then, though, you can read the full announcement below.

Na’Vi Grows

A couple of days ago the well-known MGO Na’Vi revealed their plans to expand into the DotA and Starcraft II scene. Now, MYM.com has new information about the first three players Na’Vi is going to sign for their StarCraft II squad. Rumor has it we may well be seeing big names White-Ra, Kas and Strelok take the helm of their new team. It has been said that DIMAGA might also be under consideration. You can read more about these big moves and acquisations below, as I mentioned, courtesy of MyM.com.

Ret and HuK to Korea

Big name Liquid players HuK and Ret are doing what all Starcraft pro-gamers wish to do and what everyone pretty much expected them to do sooner or later, making the move to Korea. Once they get there they will be moving into the Liquid house and well, the foreigner count in Korea will rise by two. They are set to make the move early in the month of November. I think it’s really amazing, I am totally jealous and I wish them the best of luck. You can read all about it in this weeks Liqiud Weekly.

Ret and HuK to Korea – Liquid Weekly #13

Huk and TLO Interviews

TeamLiquid has a few ‘back from BlizzCon’ Interviews up with their two players HuK and TLO. As you can expect the interviews revolve, mostly at least, around BlizzCon and the players experiences there. They also talk a little to HuK about the move to Korea is going to be making in the coming days. With those two guys the interviews could never be dull, you can read them both below. HuK also recently participated in the Strat Bunker Showmatch, GiantBomb.com Thursday Night Throwdown and Global Games Invite Ro8. So you can read about that below too!

GSL On the Economist Website

Starcraft II and Pro-Gaming on the whole is becoming more and more mainstream by the day. Any fool can tell you that eSports are definitely here to stay, who’d have thought anything else? There is a piece, entitled “Pros clicking at war”, up over on The Economist. It carries the bold subheading “An American firm wants to turn computer games into a global spectator sport”. The article is not long and only touches on the basics, which is understandable in light of its target audience. In short it is to present an overview of the GSL, esports in South Korea and ask whether it can be exported to the West. Now that is an interesting question. I am not sure something like the GSL could or would thrive anywhere but the Starcraft mecca that is South Korea, but I gotta say, as a gamer I would love to see them try to make it work. You can read the full article below, it’s definitely worth looking at.

“South Korean fans watch games broadcast on cable television and the players are celebrities. Teams flush with sponsorship money pay stars salaries on top of their prize money. (One player, Lee Yoon-Yeol, aka “Nada”, is rumoured to earn around $200,000 a year; a journeyman player might make $20,000). Now Activision Blizzard, the California-based company that developed the Starcraft games, is keen to spread the popularity of e-sports in the West.”

Pro’s Clicking At War – The Economist BoxeR GSL2

BoxeR To Go Random?

Now, firstly, this was said before the round of 16 in the GSL2 was concluded. BoxeR, The Emporer himself, perhaps the biggest name Terran player in Brood War ever has said that he might well change to random should the Terran race receive any more nerfs. He also spoke about his excitement should he get his S-Class rank and should he be able to face NaDa in the round of 8. Lastly, he speaks about the ‘fake’ BoxeR and how, based on skill, he should probably carry on using the nickname. A great, if short interview for any Emporer fans out there! You can read it all below.

Blizzard Cracks Down On Hackers, Again

It seems like Blizzard has a followup for their big wave of bans that happened at the start of this month; they are now going after the people responsible for the ‘hacking or cheating’ programs. According to an article over at GameSpot, just last week, Blizzard filed suit in the Los Angeles US District Court against three programmers, accusing them of creating and selling hacks for Starcraft II that were in violation of the end-user license agreement, Battle.net terms of use, and copyright law.

Here’s a quote from the claim:

“Just days after the release of Starcraft II, Defendants already had developed, marketed, and distributed to the public a variety of hacks and cheats designed to modify (and in fact destroy) the Starcraft II online game experience. In fact, on the very day that Starcraft II was released, representatives of the hacks Web site advised members of the public that ‘our staff is already planning new releases for this game.'”

“The harm to Blizzard from Defendants’ conduct is immediate, massive and irreparable, by distributing the Hacks to the public, Defendants cause serious harm to the value of StarCraft II. Among other things, Defendants irreparably harm the ability of Blizzard’s legitimate customers (i.e. those who purchase and use unmodified games) to enjoy and participate in the competitive online experience. That, in turn, causes users to grow dissatisfied with the game, lose interest in the game, and communicate that dissatisfaction, thereby resulting in lost sales of the game or ‘add-on’ packs and expansions thereto.”

Ouch. The three defendants named in the suit go by the handles ‘Permaphrost,’ ‘Cranix,’ and ‘Linuxawesome.’ It is thus far unclear as to where Blizzard will go from here and according to GameSpot they are still waiting for Blizzard to respond to their queries. I will try stay up-to-date, keep checking back here!

IdrA wins MLG DC

IdrA Wins MLG D.C.

The Zerg playing IdrA from the clan EG managed a straight run to the Grand Finals in this weekends MLG Washington D.C. Starcraft II Tournament. He won every single series he played and after that he had quite a long wait on his hands for his challenger to emerge from the losers bracket. Select, being knocked out of the winners bracket early in the event, battled his way all the way through some pretty big names to meet up against the ready and waiting IdrA. IdrA took the grand final with a clean 2-0 and pocketed a rather decent $2500 for his efforts. The games were great to watch over the stream, especially with the soothing voice of Day9 guiding us through them all. The whole event was great fun and I can’t wait for the next MLG in Dallas!

You can find a full replay pack of the event below along with links to the full brackets, enjoy!

Another IdrA Interview

Just a day or two ago another interesting interview with the recent MLG winner, IdrA, popped up, this time over on FNATIC.com. In the interview they talk about IdrA’s loss at GSL1, his families response to him choosing to become a pro-gamer, the other pro-gamers he respects, how he left his life behind to move to Korea and so much more! It’s a great read for any IdrA fan, which there are no doubt many of, and you can find a link to the full interview below.

oGs Win GOMtv Team Invitational

The team invitational that was held during the off-days after the GSL2’s Qualifications was won by, well, let’s just face it, the favourites, oGs. After battling it out for 8 days they faced off against team WeRRa in the finals and managed to defeat them with a close score of 4-3. There were some big players from oGs in the team, namely GARIMTO, Zenio and NaDa, so I guess it’s no surprise that they did so well. Overall it seems like it was great fun and I am sure it gave the players participating in the GSL2 a good bit of practice before the event. Read more about that below!

SjoW Wins Craft Cup #10

This past friday SjoW managed to win yet again, this time taking Craft Cup #10. The Terran player faced off against fellow Terran DieStar in the finals and took him down with a score of 3 to 0.

DIMAGA the Zerg made winning look easy in this past Sunday’s ZOTAC Cup #27. He took down the Terran Tarson in the finals with a rather convincing score of 3 to 0.

Global Starcraft League – Season 2

As you all probably know, the GSL2 is starting tomorrow, or today, depends on when you read this (18th) and a lot of people will no doubt be glued to their screens watching the live streams all day long. I will be trying to do at least a bit of coverage of the GSL2 here on the site as often as I can so be sure to keep checking back for information, results and drama!

Sony Erricson Sponsor GSL2

In a slightly smaller and probably less interesting piece of news to the average gamer, Sony Ericsson the fourth biggest mobile phone manufacturer has launched their first eSport sponsorship. The first sponsorship they have thrown out just so happens to be to the second season of the Global Starcraft League. No official information has been revealed on the matter, but it’s pretty interesting nonetheless.

The Collegiate StarLeague – Season 4

The guys from over at GosuGamers recently uploaded a pretty cool interview with the guys behind The Collegiate StarLeague or CSL. The CSL is set to begin its fourth season on Saturday, October 23rd and there’s already quite a lot of hype building around it this organization and what it’s doing for eSports in the US.
